Economy of Means

(project in progress)

ECONOMY OF MEANS

(excerpt. for full video click here)

“Economy of Means” draws on the relationship between economic abstraction and live bodies. Two performers animate various breads to portray an equal sign, division, percentage, and a square root. After a while they transition to a synchronized dance, and finally break into a fight.

Blurred against the blue screen, their bodies seem like shadows mysteriously coming to life, but void of any graspable definition. In contrast, detailed golden bagels, loaves and baguettes move effortlessly and inexplicably across the screen. ( Special thanks to tbd collective, Kat and Stephanie )
