Born in Ukraine, Slinko is a multidisciplinary artist living in New Jersey, USA. Her artistic practice is rooted in travel and research, and informed by history and social anthropology. Slinko works with transformation of political and social relationships into cultural forms, artifacts, and symbols through her idiosyncratic, and often comically flawed perspective. Slinko had studied painting at Kharkiv Institute of Industrial Art, graphic design at Fashion Institute ofTechnology, and has an MFA in Sculpture and Extended Media from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Slinko has been awarded Jacob K. Javits Fellowship, and had been awarded residencies at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (Skowhegan, Maine), Sculpture Space (Utica, NY), Henry Street Settlement (New York), Dar al Ma’mûn (Morocco), Bemis Contemporary Art Center (Nebraska), The Marble House Project, (Vermont), RAIR residency (Philadelphia), Guttenberg Arts (New Jersey), The Drawing Center Open Sessions ( New York )
